Nonfiction Book Club

Nonfiction Book Club In-Person

This book club reads nonfiction books under 300 pages (sometimes less!) related to the world today and how it got there. Some topics will be more social science and others more technical. The most important part is that the discussions and book selections are patron-driven. Every time you participate, you will have a chance to influence what the next topic will be and where the discussion goes.

On July 7, we will discuss Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder by David Grann. From the author of Killers of the Flower Moon, a page-turning story of shipwreck, survival, and savagery, culminating in a court martial that reveals a shocking truth. The powerful narrative reveals the deeper meaning of the events on The Wager, showing that it was not only the captain and crew who ended up on trial, but the very idea of empire.

The books are in and available for check out at HMPL!

We look forward to having you join this dynamic program!
